Metal Slug 6 is a fast-paced 2D run-and-gun action game that brings Marco Rossi, Tarma Roving, Eri Kasamoto, and Fio Germi back into battle alongside two new playable fighters, Ralf Jones and Clark Still from the Ikari Warriors series. The mission begins with another investigation into General Morden and his Rebel Army, but the situation soon changes when a powerful new alien species known as the Invaders appears and threatens humans, Rebels, and the familiar Mars People.
The game keeps the series’ explosive arcade action while giving each playable character individual strengths and special abilities. It also introduces the Weapon Stock System, allowing players to carry two special firearms and switch between them during combat instead of immediately replacing one weapon with another. New enemies, vehicles, weapons, and scoring mechanics further expand the traditional Metal Slug formula across five action-packed missions.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through side-scrolling stages while running, jumping, shooting, throwing grenades, rescuing prisoners, and avoiding heavy enemy fire. Powerful weapons can be collected during missions, and the Weapon Stock System lets players keep two special weapons available at once alongside their standard firearm. This makes it possible to save a particular weapon for stronger enemies or switch equipment depending on the situation.
Each character has unique advantages that can influence how a stage is played. Marco deals increased damage with his standard weapon, Tarma is particularly effective when operating vehicles, Eri specializes in grenades, and Ralf can survive an additional hit and use his own close-range technique. Slug vehicles provide additional protection and firepower during selected sections, while later missions introduce increasingly unusual alien enemies and large bosses. A combo-based scoring system also rewards players for eliminating enemies quickly and maintaining offensive momentum.
