Street Fighter II is a classic 2D fighting game that helped define competitive one-on-one fighting with a roster of characters from different parts of the world. Players choose fighters such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, E. Honda, Blanka, Zangief, and Dhalsim, each with their own fighting style, special moves, strengths, and weaknesses. How the Gameplay Works
Matches take place on 2D stages where two fighters compete over a series of timed rounds. Players move forward and backward, jump, crouch, block incoming attacks, and use punches or kicks to reduce the opponent’s health bar. Attacks vary in speed, range, and power, so faster moves can interrupt opponents while heavier attacks deal more damage but usually leave the fighter more exposed.
Special moves require specific directional commands combined with attack buttons. Ryu and Ken can launch Hadoken projectiles, Guile uses Sonic Booms, Chun-Li relies on rapid kicks, and other fighters have their own unique techniques. Throws can punish opponents at close range, while blocking helps defend against most normal attacks. Arcade progression introduces increasingly difficult opponents before ending with boss characters, while two-player Versus matches allow players to compete directly against each other.
