Zombiehood is a side-scrolling action roguelite that sends players through a post-apocalyptic world filled with evolving undead creatures, dangerous encounters, and constantly changing equipment. Each run provides another opportunity to gather weapons, artifacts, and useful gear while pushing farther through procedurally arranged environments. Its colorful presentation and humorous dialogue contrast with combat that can quickly become crowded and unforgiving.
Runs are built around adapting to whatever equipment appears rather than following exactly the same strategy every time. Weapons behave differently against particular enemies, artifacts can alter a build through powerful modifiers, and permanent progression provides reasons to continue after death. Skill points, weapon components, and blueprints earned during attempts can gradually open additional possibilities for later runs.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through 2D environments while shooting, jumping, dodging, and dealing with groups of zombies approaching from different directions. Ammunition is limited, making weapon selection and accurate attacks important. Enemies can have armor or vulnerable body parts, and targeting legs, weak points, or exposed areas can create opportunities to survive difficult encounters.
Weapons, equipment, and artifacts found during a run can be combined into increasingly powerful setups. Different modifiers may completely change how a build performs, encouraging experimentation whenever new items appear. Dying resets the current journey, but collected progression resources can unlock skills, blueprints, and weapon improvements that make future attempts more flexible.
