Shores Unknown is a turn-based tactical RPG set in a land controlled by a powerful Crown and its feared Inquisition. War continues to the south, while a mysterious wall of fog known as the Murk blocks the north. After becoming enemies of the authorities, the protagonists are forced to survive outside the protection of the society they once knew.
Players build a party of mercenaries and travel through towns, wilderness, ruins, and unfamiliar territories while becoming involved with different groups. The story places a strong emphasis on companions, alliances, and discovering what exists beyond the boundaries established by the Crown.
How the Gameplay Works
Battles are turn-based but use a gridless positioning system rather than locking characters onto square tiles. Party members can use different weapons, abilities, and combinations while facing ordinary soldiers, stronger creatures, and much larger enemies.
Characters develop according to the equipment and abilities they use, allowing the party to be shaped without relying entirely on fixed traditional classes. Outside battle, players explore locations, complete quests, recruit companions, make decisions, and strengthen the mercenary group for increasingly difficult encounters.
