About This Game:
Sonic 3 & Knuckles combines Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles into one continuous platforming adventure. Sonic and Tails pursue Dr. Robotnik across Angel Island while Knuckles initially tries to stop them after being deceived into believing they are his enemies.
The combined version connects stages from both games and expands the playable character options. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles have different movement abilities that affect which routes they can reach, giving stages additional replay value beyond simply completing them once.
How the Gameplay Works
Players race through large side-scrolling zones filled with slopes, loops, springs, enemies, moving platforms, hidden areas, and boss encounters. Rings protect the character from most damage, while shields provide additional abilities and protection depending on their type.
Sonic can use special shield abilities, Tails can fly and swim for limited periods, and Knuckles can glide and climb walls. Giant Rings lead to special stages where Chaos Emeralds can be earned, while collecting the full emerald sets unlocks powerful transformations and additional progression.
