About This Game:
Styx: Shards of Darkness is a stealth adventure starring Styx, a sarcastic goblin thief and assassin who survives by sneaking through places where direct combat is usually a bad idea. His latest job becomes connected to a dangerous conspiracy involving dark elves, dwarves, magical amber, and forces that would be more than happy to see goblins eliminated.
The game expands the large vertical environments of its predecessor, providing numerous routes through guarded locations. Rooftops, beams, tunnels, ledges, hidden passages, and elevated structures allow Styx to approach objectives from different directions, rewarding players who study patrol routes before making a move.
How the Gameplay Works
Players remain hidden by staying in darkness, moving above or below guards, using cover, and timing movements around patrols. Styx can perform stealth kills, distract enemies with objects, poison targets, hide bodies, and use various tools to avoid raising an alarm. Open combat is possible but considerably more dangerous than eliminating or bypassing enemies quietly.
Amber abilities provide supernatural options such as invisibility and creating a clone that can distract guards or activate mechanisms. Completing objectives and challenges rewards progression points that can be invested into different stealth abilities. Cooperative play also allows two players to work together through missions and create new ways of distracting or eliminating enemies.
