Brush Burial: Gutter World is a first-person immersive sim following Fennel, a devil trying to survive on a violent frontier world. Its compact levels are designed around freedom of approach, allowing objectives to be completed through aggression, stealth, exploration, or combinations of the game’s interconnected systems.
Rather than forcing every confrontation into combat, the game allows hostile situations to be avoided altogether. NPCs also react to actions such as stealing, trespassing, and murder, giving the player’s behavior consequences within each level.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through vertical, interconnected environments with several routes leading toward objectives. Fennel’s unusual movement abilities and forked tail can be used while navigating spaces, while improvised objects, stolen weapons, and hand-to-hand techniques provide different combat options.
Levels are built for repeat play, encouraging different solutions after learning their layouts. Challenges and progression can also unlock cosmetic items, while Greater and Lesser Contracts provide the game’s primary assignments.
