Darksiders 2 follows Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, on a journey to clear his brother War of responsibility for the destruction of humanity. His search takes him far beyond Earth into enormous realms inhabited by Makers, angels, demons, undead creatures, and ancient beings. The adventure greatly expands the scale of the original game while introducing stronger RPG elements.
Death is faster and more agile than War, using acrobatic movement and a wide selection of weapons during combat. Large interconnected regions contain dungeons, optional areas, hidden treasure, side quests, and characters who provide additional tasks. Loot and character progression allow players to continually modify Death’s equipment and combat abilities.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat combines fast melee attacks, dodging, secondary weapons, and supernatural abilities. Death always carries his signature scythes but can equip additional weapon types that provide different speeds and damage characteristics. Defeated enemies frequently drop randomized equipment with different statistics and bonuses.
Exploration involves wall-running, climbing, jumping, swimming, and solving environmental puzzles inside large dungeons. New abilities and tools gradually allow Death to interact with mechanisms that were previously inaccessible. Experience points provide levels and skill points that can be invested into different ability trees, allowing players to emphasize direct combat or supernatural powers.
