Holder of Place is a roguelike auto-battler and card game set in a ruined science-fantasy kingdom threatened by a young dragon and a spreading primordial gloom. Each expedition moves through battles, random events, and recruitment opportunities before eventually leading toward a confrontation with the Dragon.
The game contains more than 150 followers and trinkets, creating a large number of possible teams. Success comes from understanding how unusual followers interact rather than manually controlling every strike during combat.
How the Gameplay Works
Players recruit followers and arrange them into a formation before battles begin automatically. Character abilities trigger according to the current setup, making positioning and synergy more important than issuing commands after a fight starts.
Runs alternate between combat, random events, rewards, and decisions about which followers or trinkets to take. Reliquary Mode provides an additional progression challenge after players become familiar with the main structure.
