International Cue Club is a cue-sports simulation that lets players compete in several variations of pool and snooker from a traditional overhead view of the table. The game includes UK and US 8-ball, 9-ball, Snooker, Speed Ball, and Killer, with customizable rules allowing matches to be adjusted for different playing styles. Rather than focusing only on individual matches, the game also includes progression through themed club environments where players can challenge increasingly skilled opponents.
The game emphasizes accurate ball movement, shot positioning, and control over the cue rather than arcade-style action. Players can practice individual shots, enter tournaments, compete against computer-controlled opponents, or play against another player. Different cues, tables, ball sets, and cloth speeds can also be selected, giving players several ways to customize the appearance and behavior of matches.
How the Gameplay Works
Players use the mouse to line up shots, choose the direction of the cue ball, and control the power of each stroke. Successful play requires considering angles, rebounds, ball positioning, and the location of the cue ball after each shot. Different game types follow their own rules, so strategies change depending on whether the player is competing in 8-ball, 9-ball, Snooker, Killer, or one of the other available variations.
Several modes are available, including quick games, practice, tournaments, and two-player matches. The club-based progression system lets players enter themed rooms, challenge opponents, and build reputation by winning matches. Stronger opponents become available as progress is made, eventually leading to matches against club bosses and higher-level tournaments. A bonus Slam mode also provides a less traditional way to interact with the balls using the mouse.
