Jusant is a climbing-focused adventure set in a vast dried-out tower rising through a desert landscape. Players control a young traveler accompanied by a small creature called Ballast while ascending through abandoned settlements, caverns, machinery, and natural formations.
The game tells most of its story through environmental details, journals, ruins, and the changing ecology of the tower rather than through constant dialogue.
How the Gameplay Works
Players climb using separate hand controls, place pitons, manage stamina, swing on ropes, wall-run, and find safe resting points. Ballast can interact with certain plants and creatures to reveal paths or environmental changes.
Progression is entirely tied to climbing higher and learning how different surfaces, weather conditions, and traversal tools affect movement. There is no combat, so the challenge comes from route planning, stamina control, and carefully using anchors to avoid losing progress during difficult climbs. Because hand-controlled climbing, rope and piton system, and stamina management remain useful throughout the game, players can keep building on what was learned early on. environmental storytelling introduces additional pressure without making the original mechanics irrelevant, so later progression feels more like mastery than a complete reset of the rules.
