King of Dragon Pass combines strategy, role-playing, resource management, and interactive storytelling in the fantasy world of Glorantha. Players lead an Orlanthi clan attempting to establish a new home in Dragon Pass while managing relationships with neighboring clans, supernatural forces, and their own people.
Hundreds of narrative events can occur as years pass, and decisions may affect the clan long after an individual situation appears to be resolved. Survival depends on agriculture and resources, but mythology, diplomacy, warfare, and community relationships are equally important.
How the Gameplay Works
Players govern through a clan ring of advisers and make decisions involving farming, cattle, trade, exploration, diplomacy, raids, and religious activity. Advisers offer opinions based on their personalities and expertise, but the final choice belongs to the player.
Seasonal actions are limited, forcing the clan to prioritize its most important needs. Heroquests recreate important myths and can provide major benefits when completed successfully, while alliances and conflicts gradually determine whether the clan can rise to greater political power.
