Rain World is a harsh survival platformer about a small creature known as a slugcat struggling through the remains of a ruined ecosystem. Separated from its family, the slugcat must navigate industrial structures, flooded regions, tunnels, and wilderness inhabited by predators that are also trying to survive.
Creatures behave according to their own needs rather than functioning only as scripted obstacles. Predators hunt, smaller animals flee, and unexpected interactions between species can completely change what appears to be a safe route.
How the Gameplay Works
Players climb, leap, crawl, throw objects, hunt small prey, and search for shelter before deadly rain arrives at the end of each cycle. Food must be gathered before hibernating, making exploration a balance between reaching new territory and returning to safety in time.
Death can erase recent progress toward moving between regions, while unfamiliar creatures often need to be understood through observation rather than direct confrontation. Movement techniques and knowledge of the ecosystem become just as important as any item the slugcat can carry.
