About This Game:
Rockman X4, also known internationally as Mega Man X4, is a side-scrolling action platformer that allows players to complete the adventure as either X or Zero. Both characters travel through stages controlled by powerful Reploids while becoming involved in a growing conflict between the Maverick Hunters and the Repliforce.
X and Zero provide noticeably different play styles. X relies primarily on ranged attacks and can collect new weapons from defeated bosses, while Zero fights at close range using his Z-Saber and learns additional combat techniques as bosses are defeated.
How the Gameplay Works
Players select stages from a group of bosses and travel through side-scrolling levels filled with enemies, moving platforms, environmental hazards, and hidden upgrades. X can charge his X-Buster for stronger shots, while Zero’s sword attacks require players to move much closer to enemies.
Defeating bosses unlocks new abilities that can make other stages and bosses easier to handle. Players can dash, climb walls, jump between surfaces, and search levels for health upgrades or other improvements. Each character has separate story scenes and approaches combat differently enough to encourage more than one playthrough.
