About This Game:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is a direct sequel to Shadow of Chernobyl that returns to the Zone after a major military operation ends in disaster. Players control Major Alexander Degtyarev, an intelligence officer sent undercover to investigate why several government helicopters crashed during the failed mission.
The investigation leads through large areas surrounding Zaton, Jupiter, and Pripyat, where stalkers, scientists, soldiers, bandits, mutants, and other groups continue living inside the dangerous Zone. Side stories and optional encounters play a larger role, giving individual characters and settlements their own problems to solve.
How the Gameplay Works
Players freely explore large regions while completing story objectives, side missions, artifact hunts, and optional investigations. Firearms and protective suits can be repaired and improved, while traders, technicians, medics, and other specialists provide useful services at major safe locations.
Anomalies remain one of the Zone’s greatest dangers and can contain valuable artifacts. Periodic emissions force stalkers to find shelter before powerful energy waves sweep across the environment. Mutants become particularly dangerous away from settlements and during nighttime travel, making preparation and equipment selection important.
