Salt and Sacrifice is a dark fantasy action RPG that expands the side-scrolling combat of Salt and Sanctuary with hunts focused on powerful roaming Mages. Players become Marked Inquisitors, condemned individuals given a chance at redemption by tracking corrupted magical beings across dangerous regions.
The game combines challenging melee combat, character builds, equipment crafting, platforming, and interconnected exploration. Defeating Mages provides materials that can be turned into weapons and armor carrying properties associated with the hunted enemy.
How the Gameplay Works
Players choose a starting class and develop attributes through a large skill tree while exploring areas filled with monsters, traps, shortcuts, and bosses. Weapons have different movesets and statistics, allowing builds to focus on strength, dexterity, magic, ranged combat, or mixed approaches.
Mage hunts require tracking a target through the environment as it teleports between locations and summons additional enemies. Local and online multiplayer systems allow cooperative play as well as invasions and faction-based encounters.
