About This Game:
Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by classic 16-bit adventures, following two Children of the Solstice who can combine sun and moon magic to fight creatures created by the Fleshmancer. The journey crosses islands, ancient ruins, towns, oceans, and increasingly strange worlds.
The game uses detailed pixel art but modernizes many traditional RPG ideas. There are no random encounters on the world map, and battles include timing-based inputs that make even familiar attacks more interactive.
How the Gameplay Works
Combat uses turn-based commands for attacks, skills, combos, and items. Pressing buttons at the right moment can increase outgoing damage or reduce incoming hits. Enemy spell locks display required damage types, allowing players to interrupt dangerous attacks by breaking the correct symbols.
Outside combat, characters climb, swim, jump across gaps, solve environmental puzzles, cook meals, and explore for treasure. Party members learn combo attacks that use shared resources, while relic options allow players to adjust difficulty or quality-of-life settings without changing the core story. Most of the game’s longer-term depth comes from combining turn-based rpg combat with timed attack and defense inputs and enemy spell-lock interruption system.
