Surmount: A Mountain Climbing Adventure is a physics-based climbing game about ascending a huge procedurally generated mountain. The tone is playful, but the movement system demands careful control of the climber’s arms, momentum, and grip.
A major part of the appeal comes from physics-based climbing, procedural mountain routes, and momentum and grip control. Rather than existing as separate ideas, they reinforce one another and give the progression more variety as new objectives, locations, or encounters appear.
How the Gameplay Works
Players swing between holds, grab ledges, use climbing tools or helpful items, and choose routes upward. Solo and cooperative play allow one or two climbers to tackle the mountain while dealing with increasingly awkward terrain.
The progression curve also relies on climbing tools, solo and co-op play, and comedic adventure tone, which gradually ask more from the player.
