The Choice of Life: Middle Ages is a narrative card game where the player guides a character through a humorous medieval life by making a sequence of binary decisions. Each choice can improve the character’s situation, create a new problem, or end the current life unexpectedly.
The game turns familiar medieval roles, dangers, and social situations into short branching events. Repeated playthroughs reveal different routes as the player learns which decisions lead toward wealth, status, survival, or disaster.
How the Gameplay Works
Each event presents illustrated cards and two possible responses. Selecting one advances the story to another situation, with health, position, possessions, and previous choices influencing what happens next.
Some routes lead toward noble status or important roles, while others end in poverty, imprisonment, monsters, disease, or other misfortunes. Unlocking new branches encourages experimentation rather than always choosing the safest-looking option.
