Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell introduces NSA operative Sam Fisher and the Third Echelon program through a series of covert missions involving information warfare and an international crisis. The campaign emphasizes infiltration, surveillance, and avoiding detection over direct firefights.

Lighting is a core gameplay system. Dark rooms and shadows allow Sam to remain difficult to see, while alarms and careless movement can quickly turn a quiet operation into a heavily guarded search.

How the Gameplay Works
Players crouch, climb pipes, hang from ledges, split-jump between narrow walls, pick locks, hide bodies, and use night vision to navigate dark spaces. Suppressed weapons and gadgets are available, but ammunition is limited enough to discourage unnecessary shooting.

Sticky cameras, diversion devices, lockpicks, optic cables, and other equipment help Sam gather information before acting. Many missions restrict civilian casualties or alarms, rewarding careful timing and route planning.
