About This Game:
Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness takes Lara Croft into a darker adventure involving murder, conspiracy, ancient artifacts, and a secretive organization operating across Europe. After visiting her former mentor Werner Von Croy in Paris, Lara becomes caught in a murder investigation and is forced to search for answers while avoiding the authorities. Her journey eventually leads from the streets and underground areas of Paris to Prague and locations connected to an ancient supernatural threat.
The game introduces a noticeably different atmosphere from earlier Tomb Raider adventures, mixing traditional exploration with urban environments, conversations, stealth sections, and light character-development elements. It also introduces Kurtis Trent as a second playable character during certain parts of the story, giving the adventure another perspective as the conspiracy expands.
How the Gameplay Works
Players guide Lara through platforming areas, buildings, tomb-like environments, streets, underground locations, and puzzle-filled interiors. Traversal involves jumping, climbing, hanging from ledges, swimming, crawling, and interacting with environmental objects. Some actions improve Lara’s physical abilities, allowing her to perform tasks that were previously too difficult.
Combat uses firearms against human and supernatural enemies, while certain areas provide opportunities to move quietly and avoid direct confrontation. Conversations occasionally let players choose responses, and exploration is required to locate keys, switches, clues, weapons, and important objects. Kurtis has his own playable sections with different abilities, adding another style of exploration and combat to the campaign.
