X-COM: Apocalypse is a science-fiction strategy game that moves the series into Mega-Primus, a massive futuristic city threatened by an alien invasion. Players command X-COM operations while researching alien technology, managing bases, recruiting agents, purchasing equipment, and protecting the city from increasingly dangerous incursions.
The city itself contains multiple organizations with their own relationships and interests. Alien infiltration can spread through these groups, forcing players to monitor political conditions as well as battlefield threats.
How the Gameplay Works
The strategic layer involves operating bases, tracking UFOs, sending vehicles to intercept enemies, researching technology, manufacturing equipment, and responding to incidents across the city. Damage caused during operations can also affect relations with local organizations.
