A Difficult Game About Climbing is a physics-based precision game where players use only their character’s arms to scale a huge vertical environment. It is intentionally punishing and inspired by games such as Getting Over It.
Every hand placement matters because a mistake can send the climber falling far below the current position.
How the Gameplay Works
Players grab surfaces with separate arm controls, pull the body upward, swing between holds, and carefully manage momentum. There are no checkpoints protecting progress.
The challenge is entirely skill-based. Improvement comes from learning the physics, controlling panic after slips, and repeating difficult sections until movement becomes consistent. These mechanics reinforce one another over time. physics-based climbing establishes the main routine, arm-controlled movement changes how that routine is approached, and no checkpoints adds more flexibility. Once punishing falls becomes a regular part of progression, earlier decisions can have a noticeable effect on later performance, giving the game a stronger sense of continuity.
