Aeon of Sands: The Trail is a retro-inspired first-person RPG set in a strange post-apocalyptic desert. Players control Setrani, a city clerk whose ordinary life is interrupted when circumstances force him beyond the safety of his settlement and into a wasteland filled with ruins, creatures, factions, and forgotten technology.
The game draws inspiration from classic grid-based dungeon crawlers while adding dialogue choices, party members, survival elements, and an unusual hand-drawn art style. Setrani’s decisions can change relationships and influence how parts of the story develop.
How the Gameplay Works
Exploration takes place from a first-person perspective using grid-based movement. Players search ruins, gather supplies, solve environmental problems, and fight enemies while managing a small party.
Combat occurs in real time and allows weapons, items, and character abilities to be used from the party interface. Food, water, equipment, dialogue decisions, and recruitable companions all contribute to surviving the journey through the desert.
