About This Game:
Banished is a city-building survival game where a small group of exiled settlers attempts to establish a permanent community in an undeveloped wilderness. There is no money-based economy at the center of the settlement; survival instead depends on producing enough food, firewood, clothing, tools, housing, and other necessities for the population.
Every citizen is part of the workforce and can grow older, form a household, have children, and eventually die. This creates a settlement where population growth must be managed carefully because expanding too quickly can create food shortages, while growing too slowly can leave too few workers for future generations.
How the Gameplay Works
Players assign laborers to jobs such as farming, fishing, hunting, forestry, mining, construction, and production. Resources gathered by workers are transported to storage areas and used to build houses, workshops, markets, farms, roads, and other structures.
Seasonal changes make preparation important, especially when winter reduces farming opportunities and increases the need for firewood and warm clothing. Disease, aging populations, poor harvests, and supply problems can weaken the settlement if production chains are not balanced carefully.
