About This Game:
Subnautica: Below Zero is an open-world survival adventure set on the frozen region of alien planet 4546B. Players take control of Robin Ayou, who travels to the planet to investigate the circumstances surrounding her sister’s death. The search leads through icy coastlines, deep oceans, alien installations, frozen caves, and ecosystems filled with unfamiliar wildlife.
While retaining the underwater exploration of the original Subnautica, Below Zero introduces a colder environment and a larger emphasis on above-water survival. The story develops through abandoned facilities, recorded messages, alien technology, and encounters that gradually reveal what happened before Robin arrived.
How the Gameplay Works
Players gather materials from the environment and use them to craft tools, diving equipment, vehicles, habitat modules, and survival supplies. Oxygen limits how long early dives can last, while deeper regions eventually require upgraded equipment and vehicles capable of handling greater pressure.
Temperature becomes another concern when exploring the frozen surface, where shelter, heat sources, and appropriate equipment help prevent exposure. Base building allows customized underwater or surface habitats to be constructed, while story progression sends players toward increasingly distant and dangerous regions of the map.
