Star Wars: Republic Commando is a tactical first-person shooter that puts players in command of Delta Squad, an elite team of clone commandos operating during the Clone Wars. The campaign follows the squad through dangerous military missions involving Separatist forces, Trandoshans, droids, and other threats across several Star Wars locations.
Rather than fighting entirely alone, the player works closely with three squad members who have distinct personalities and battlefield roles. Simple tactical commands allow Delta Squad to use sniper positions, demolition points, defensive locations, and other marked opportunities throughout each mission.
How the Gameplay Works
Players control squad leader RC-1138 from a first-person perspective while using blaster rifles, pistols, explosives, and specialized weapon attachments. Context-sensitive commands make it possible to order teammates to take important positions or perform specific tasks without managing them individually at all times.
Squad members can revive one another after being incapacitated, making teamwork essential during difficult encounters. Missions combine corridor firefights, defensive battles, sabotage, and larger combat areas, while the squad’s frequent conversations help give each commando a stronger identity.
