Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag follows Edward Kenway, a privateer turned pirate who becomes entangled in the conflict between Assassins and Templars during the Golden Age of Piracy. The Caribbean serves as a broad open world filled with islands, colonial cities, forts, plantations, wrecks, and sea routes.

The game places naval exploration at the center of progression. Edward commands the Jackdaw, recruits crew members, hunts larger ships, attacks convoys, and gradually upgrades the vessel into a stronger warship.

How the Gameplay Works
On land, Edward uses free-running, stealth, hidden blades, swords, pistols, and environmental cover to infiltrate targets. At sea, players steer the Jackdaw, fire broadside cannons, use mortars and swivel guns, avoid incoming fire, and board damaged vessels.

Exploration rewards players with treasure maps, underwater wrecks, hunting materials, collectibles, and side contracts. Captured ships can repair the Jackdaw, lower wanted status, or join Kenway’s fleet for separate trading missions.
