Barbaria is a physics-based combat and dungeon-building game where players create defensive strongholds and then personally attack the bases built by other players. It combines third-person melee action with asynchronous strategy and trap placement.
Players build small realms containing monsters, traps, defensive structures, and environmental hazards. These bases can then be invaded while the owner is offline.
How the Gameplay Works
During attacks, players directly control a barbarian warrior, use melee weapons, throw objects, and fight through enemy defenses. In building mode, rooms, traps, and defenders are arranged to make invasions difficult.
Successful raids provide resources for stronger gear and better defenses. The asynchronous system creates a loop of improving a base, attacking others, and then reviewing how well the player’s own defenses survived against incoming challengers. The experience also rewards experimentation because third-person physics combat does not operate separately from asynchronous base raiding and build traps and defenses. Different combinations can produce safer, faster, or more efficient results, while melee weapons and throwable objects gives the player another long-term objective to consider. That keeps repeated stages or encounters from feeling exactly the same. The simple structure works because third-person physics combat stays central while asynchronous base raiding and build traps and defenses introduce just enough change to make later objectives more demanding without adding unnecessary complexity.
