About This Game:
Battlestations: Pacific is a World War II action and strategy game centered on naval and aerial warfare across the Pacific. Players take command of warships, submarines, aircraft, and other military units while participating in large battles involving American and Japanese forces. The game includes two separate campaigns: an American campaign based around the historical Allied advance through the Pacific and a Japanese campaign that explores an alternate version of events where Japan gains greater success in the war.
Rather than controlling the battle only from a traditional strategy view, players can directly take command of individual units whenever needed. A destroyer can be manually steered into combat, a fighter can be flown against enemy aircraft, or a submarine can be taken beneath the surface for a torpedo attack. This combination of real-time tactical command and direct action gives players freedom to manage an entire force while still personally taking part in important moments of each battle.
How the Gameplay Works
Players command groups of naval and air units across large battlefields while completing objectives such as destroying enemy fleets, protecting important ships, capturing islands, attacking airfields, or defending strategic positions. From the tactical map, units can be selected and ordered to move, attack targets, patrol areas, or perform other actions. At any time, players can switch into direct control and manually operate one of their available ships, aircraft, or submarines.
Different units require different tactics during combat. Battleships and cruisers rely on heavy naval guns, destroyers can use torpedoes and anti-aircraft weapons, submarines depend on stealth and underwater attacks, while fighters and bombers handle aerial combat and strikes against surface targets. Aircraft carriers and airfields can launch additional aircraft, allowing players to coordinate attacks between multiple unit types. Successful missions require balancing direct combat with wider battlefield management as threats develop across the map.
