Celeste is a precision platformer about Madeline’s attempt to climb Celeste Mountain while confronting both physical obstacles and personal struggles. The journey moves through ruins, resorts, caves, temples, and surreal locations filled with increasingly demanding platforming challenges.

A focused control scheme gives the game considerable depth, while its story develops through conversations and events between difficult climbing sections.

How the Gameplay Works
Madeline can run, jump, climb walls for a limited time, and perform one mid-air dash before touching a surface that restores it. Levels combine these abilities with moving platforms, spikes, springs, wind, crystals, and mechanics unique to individual chapters.

Instant respawning makes repeated attempts quick, encouraging players to learn each screen through practice. Optional strawberries, hidden routes, B-Sides, C-Sides, and other advanced challenges provide significantly harder goals beyond reaching the main ending.
