Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is a dark fantasy action RPG set in the decaying land of Lordran. Players create an undead character and leave the Northern Undead Asylum before beginning a difficult journey through ruined castles, underground cities, forests, fortresses, and other locations connected through a large interconnected world.
The Prepare to Die Edition includes the base Dark Souls adventure along with additional content centered on the lost land of Oolacile. How the Gameplay Works
Combat relies on stamina for attacking, blocking, dodging, and sprinting, making reckless button pressing dangerous. Weapons have different move sets, range, speed, and stat requirements, while shields, armor, magic, miracles, and pyromancy provide many possible character builds.
Defeated enemies provide souls used for leveling and purchasing equipment. Dying causes carried souls to be dropped at the location of death, giving players one opportunity to recover them before another death removes them permanently. Bonfires serve as checkpoints where characters can rest, level up, and replenish healing.
