Contradiction: Spot the Liar! is an FMV detective adventure built almost entirely from live-action footage. Players control Inspector Jenks as he investigates the suspicious death of a young woman in the English village of Edenton and questions residents connected to a mysterious training course.
The investigation is driven by conversation rather than traditional combat. Every interview produces statements that can be compared against other information, with progress coming from identifying moments where a suspect has contradicted something they previously said.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore the village, examine useful locations, collect evidence, and repeatedly interview suspects as new subjects become available. Each person’s statements are stored so that two conflicting pieces of testimony can be selected and challenged.
Finding a genuine contradiction triggers a new live-action sequence and usually opens additional questions or investigative paths. Incorrect accusations simply require another attempt, making careful attention to wording and remembered details the most important skill.
