Crysis 3 is a first-person sci-fi shooter set in a heavily transformed New York City, years after the events of Crysis 2. Players once again take control of Prophet, a soldier permanently connected to the advanced Nanosuit, as he returns to fight against the CELL Corporation and the alien Ceph. Much of the city has been enclosed beneath a massive Nanodome, allowing forests, swamps, ruins, and abandoned urban structures to spread across areas that were once densely populated.
The game combines high-tech combat with large environments that support both direct attacks and stealth-focused approaches. Prophet’s Nanosuit provides powerful abilities such as enhanced armor and cloaking, while a broad selection of firearms, explosives, and alien technology gives players different ways to handle enemies. The campaign mixes open combat spaces with more focused story missions, creating a balance between tactical freedom and cinematic action.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through environments from a first-person perspective while using guns, explosives, the Nanosuit, and environmental cover to complete objectives. The suit can switch between Armor Mode for greater protection and Cloak Mode for temporary invisibility, with both abilities consuming energy that gradually recharges. This allows players to move quietly past patrols, line up powerful attacks, or survive heavier firefights when stealth is no longer possible.
Weapons can be customized with different attachments, while the Predator Bow allows silent attacks without immediately breaking cloak. Players can also hack certain electronic systems, turrets, and equipment to create advantages during combat. Many areas contain multiple routes and elevated positions, encouraging players to scan enemies, choose targets, and decide whether to approach situations aggressively or quietly. Battles include human CELL soldiers, Ceph enemies, and larger mechanical threats that require heavier weapons and careful use of Nanosuit abilities.
