Deck of Ashes is a dark fantasy deck-building roguelike about a group of antiheroes whose actions helped unleash a supernatural catastrophe. Each playable character uses a different card set and fighting style while traveling across a hostile world in search of a way to survive the consequences of the Ash Curse.
Unlike deck builders where cards automatically return after combat, important cards can be consumed or damaged during use. Managing the deck therefore involves maintaining, crafting, and improving cards between encounters rather than simply collecting as many as possible.
How the Gameplay Works
Players travel across a map, enter events, gather resources, visit locations, and fight enemies in turn-based card battles. Each hero has unique mechanics, status effects, and card combinations that support different strategies.
The camp acts as the main preparation area where cards can be created, restored, or upgraded and useful services can be improved. Routes involve balancing exploration against rising danger, because pushing farther can provide better rewards but also increases the risk of reaching a boss in poor condition.
