Doom 3: BFG Edition is an updated package built around Doom 3’s horror-focused reimagining of the classic demon invasion on Mars. A marine arrives at the UAC facility shortly before experiments open a gateway to Hell, turning laboratories, maintenance tunnels, and research complexes into dark combat zones filled with demons.
The edition includes Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, and The Lost Mission, along with versions of the original Doom and Doom II. It also adjusts the main game’s presentation with improved lighting support, checkpoint saving, and an armor-mounted flashlight that can be used without putting weapons away.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore linear facilities, collect access codes, read PDAs and logs, and fight demons using shotguns, machine guns, plasma weapons, explosives, and heavier late-game equipment. Enemies often appear from dark rooms, vents, teleport points, and scripted ambushes, making sound and lighting important parts of the atmosphere.
Health, armor, ammunition, and weapon pickups must be managed while moving through increasingly dangerous sections of the base. Resurrection of Evil adds its own campaign mechanics and artifacts, while The Lost Mission provides a separate set of levels connected to the Mars disaster.
