Dune: Spice Wars is a real-time strategy and 4X game set on Arrakis, where rival factions struggle for control of the desert planet and its valuable spice. Military force is only one path to dominance; political influence, economic power, espionage, territorial control, and relationships with neutral settlements can all shape the outcome of a campaign.
Each faction has different advantages, leaders, units, and strategic priorities inspired by the Dune universe. Surviving Arrakis also requires dealing with environmental dangers, particularly the enormous sandworms attracted by activity in the open desert.
How the Gameplay Works
Players explore regions, capture villages, construct buildings, harvest spice, recruit military units, and manage water and other resources. Spice taxes must be paid while enough wealth is retained to expand the faction. Units moving across open sand can attract worms, requiring armies and harvesters to be monitored carefully.
Agents can conduct espionage and unlock operations, while the Landsraad allows factions to vote on resolutions affecting the political landscape. Victory can be achieved in several ways, allowing military conquest, political control, economic dominance, or other faction strategies to become viable paths.
