DREDGE is a fishing adventure with a strong supernatural horror element. Players captain a small boat through an isolated archipelago, catching fish, helping unusual residents, upgrading their vessel, and gradually uncovering why the surrounding waters become increasingly disturbing after sunset.
The calm routine of fishing during daylight contrasts with strange creatures, hallucinations, dangerous weather, and unexplained events at night. Exploration is encouraged by quests and hidden locations, but the limited cargo space aboard the boat means every trip requires decisions about what is worth carrying home.
How the Gameplay Works
Players sail between fishing spots and complete short timing-based activities to catch different species. The catch must be arranged inside a grid-based cargo hold, where unusual shapes make efficient storage important. Fish can be sold at settlements to fund engine improvements, stronger fishing equipment, lights, storage, and other upgrades.
Dredging equipment allows materials and mysterious objects to be recovered from wrecks and underwater locations. Staying out after dark raises panic, causing visual distortions and more dangerous encounters. Research unlocks additional equipment required to catch species found in different depths and regions.
