About This Game:
FAR: Lone Sails is an atmospheric side-scrolling adventure about traveling through the remains of a dried-out world aboard a large unusual vehicle. With almost no spoken dialogue, the game tells its story through abandoned structures, changing landscapes, weather, and the objects left behind by people who once lived there. The journey feels lonely but peaceful, with the vehicle becoming almost as important as the character operating it.
Instead of combat, the experience focuses on movement, machinery, and environmental problem solving. Players must keep their vehicle functioning while crossing empty plains, ruined settlements, industrial areas, and other locations shaped by an unexplained environmental disaster.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move around inside and outside the vehicle to operate its different systems. Fuel must be collected and loaded, engines activated, sails raised when conditions allow, and damaged machinery repaired before the journey can continue. Several controls need to be managed together as the vehicle gains speed or encounters obstacles.
Environmental puzzles occasionally force the player to leave the vehicle and explore nearby structures to open paths or activate machinery. Progress is largely linear, but the changing scenery, weather, and mechanical problems create a steady rhythm between driving, maintenance, and exploration.
