FatalZone is an auto-shooter and roguelite where mercenaries enter zones overrun by zombies and mutants, collect resources, and attempt to survive long enough to return to a developing base. The game combines survivor-style combat with persistent injuries, mutations, and character management.
Mercenaries can become infected or altered by repeated expeditions, creating both risks and useful mutations. Losing a veteran can hurt the base’s long-term strength.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move through enemy-filled zones while weapons fire automatically, collect experience, choose upgrades, and gather resources. Bosses and elite enemies appear as the timer progresses.
Back at base, facilities can be improved, new mercenaries recruited, and survivors treated or developed. The loop encourages deciding when to push deeper for better rewards and when to extract before a useful character becomes too damaged to save. As more of the game opens up, zombie auto-shooter remains central but gains extra depth from mercenary roster and mutations and infection. Those systems create room for different strategies, while run-based upgrades encourages better use of the tools already introduced. Progress therefore feels like an expansion of the original loop rather than a series of disconnected mechanics. The compact design still leaves room to improve because zombie auto-shooter and mercenary roster remain useful throughout, while mutations and infection gives later stages enough variation to keep the core loop from becoming repetitive.
