FIFA Football 2003 is a football simulation game that introduced a noticeably different playing style compared with the previous entries in the series. How the Gameplay Works
Players control an entire football team during matches, switching between players while passing, shooting, tackling, crossing, sprinting, and dribbling. Attacks can be created through short passing, through balls, crosses, or individual runs, while defending requires careful positioning and well-timed tackles. Freestyle Control adds extra control over the ball, allowing players to perform more advanced touches and move past defenders in tighter situations.

Different formations and tactical setups can be selected before matches, while substitutions allow teams to be adjusted as the game develops. Players can compete through individual matches, tournaments, league competitions, and the Club Championship. Computer-controlled opponents provide different levels of difficulty, while multiplayer allows two or more players to compete directly depending on the platform and setup.
