About This Game:
Folk Tale is a fantasy village-building RPG where players begin with a small group of peasants and attempt to transform a vulnerable settlement into a functioning town. Food, housing, production, defenses, trade, and population growth all need attention while dangerous creatures and hostile forces occupy the surrounding wilderness.
The strategy layer is combined with role-playing elements through recruitable heroes who can leave the settlement to explore dungeons, fight enemies, gather loot, and confront bosses. Villagers also develop professions that allow the settlement to produce the materials and services required for further expansion.
How the Gameplay Works
Players place buildings and assign villagers to different professions, creating production chains for food, resources, equipment, and other necessities. Expanding too quickly can create shortages, while leaving the town undefended makes it vulnerable to enemies.
Heroes can be recruited and equipped before being sent into dangerous areas beyond the settlement. Battles and exploration provide treasure and resources that can support further development. As the village grows, players gain access to additional buildings, workers, defenses, and opportunities to explore the surrounding fantasy world.
