Freedom Planet 2 is a fast 2D action-platformer starring Lilac, Carol, Milla, and Neera in a new adventure across the world of Avalice. The game expands the original with more detailed combat, larger stages, new abilities, and a broader story involving the return of an ancient threat.
Each heroine has a distinct movement and fighting style. Lilac uses speed and dragon boosts, Carol relies on motorcycle-like mobility and close combat, Milla uses shields and projectiles, and Neera fights with ice-based techniques.
How the Gameplay Works
Players run, jump, dash, attack enemies, explore branching stage routes, and fight bosses. A guard system provides more defensive options than in the first game, while character-specific abilities open different ways through the same level.
Story progression moves between large stages, hub areas, and boss encounters. Equipment and potion-style items provide additional customization, while time trials and hidden routes reward players who master each character’s movement. As more of the game opens, fast 2d action-platforming remains central but gains extra depth from four playable heroines and character-specific movement and combat. Those systems create room for different strategies, while guard and dodge systems pushes the player to make better use of the tools already introduced. Progress therefore feels like a gradual expansion of the original loop rather than a series of disconnected mechanics.
