Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a physics-based climbing game about a man named Diogenes who sits inside a metal cauldron and attempts to climb an enormous mountain using only a sledgehammer. The strange setup turns simple movement into a demanding challenge where every mistake can erase several minutes or even hours of progress.
There are no checkpoints protecting players from major falls. The game deliberately tests patience and persistence while creator Bennett Foddy provides spoken commentary discussing failure, frustration, progress, and the act of attempting difficult things.
How the Gameplay Works
Players move the mouse to control the hammer directly. The hammer can push against the ground, hook onto objects, swing around ledges, and launch the cauldron upward when used with enough force.
Every section requires a different combination of precision and momentum. Falling does not normally end the game, but players may land far below their previous position and must climb the same obstacles again before attempting the difficult section once more.
