Godhood is a strategy game in which players become a newly emerging deity attempting to establish a religion and compete against rival gods. Rather than directly controlling worshippers at every moment, the player shapes their beliefs, selects religious principles, and prepares chosen disciples to spread the faith.
Religions can be built around very different values and traditions, influencing the rituals, disciples, and strategies available. Followers retain some independence, so divine leadership is more about guidance and preparation than conventional unit control.
How the Gameplay Works
Players manage a sacred site, select commandments and traditions, train disciples, and improve their religious community. Mission objectives lead disciples into ritual confrontations called Sacraments against representatives of competing faiths.
Sacraments play out through prepared character abilities rather than direct moment-to-moment commands, making disciple selection, statistics, classes, and positioning especially important before the encounter begins. Victories provide new followers and resources that allow the religion to expand further.
