Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a zero-gravity salvage simulation where workers dismantle decommissioned spacecraft for an enormous interstellar corporation. Ships contain valuable metals, machinery, electronics, fuel systems, reactors, and other components that can be separated and sent to the correct processing areas for profit.
The job is extremely hazardous. Cutting the wrong object can depressurize a compartment, rupture fuel lines, trigger explosions, release electrical hazards, or destabilize a reactor. Efficient salvage therefore requires understanding each ship before reducing it to scrap.
How the Gameplay Works
Players maneuver around ships in zero gravity using thrusters and use a cutter to separate structural sections. A grapple tool moves smaller components directly and can connect larger pieces to tethers, pulling them toward the furnace, processor, or salvage barge depending on their material type.
More advanced ships introduce pressurized sections, electrical equipment, dangerous fuel systems, and reactors that must be handled carefully. Earnings pay down the character’s huge corporate debt while certification progression unlocks tougher ships and better tools. Equipment can be upgraded to improve range, durability, oxygen capacity, and efficiency.
