Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is a third-person stealth game that continues the story of Agent 47 after he attempts to leave his life as a professional killer behind. Living quietly at a church in Sicily, 47 is forced back into the assassination business when his friend Reverend Vittorio is kidnapped. His search leads him to reconnect with the International Contract Agency and accept assignments across locations including Russia, Japan, Malaysia, Afghanistan, and India.
The sequel expands the assassination formula with more opportunities for stealth, disguises, careful planning, and alternative approaches. Players are encouraged to complete assignments without attracting attention, although direct gunfights remain possible. A mission rating system evaluates how professionally each contract is completed, with the highest Silent Assassin rating rewarding players who minimize unnecessary deaths and avoid detection.
How the Gameplay Works
Players control Agent 47 through individual assassination missions where one or more targets must be eliminated before reaching an exit point. Guards and civilians react to suspicious behavior, making disguises an important way to enter restricted locations. Uniforms can be taken from incapacitated characters, but running, carrying inappropriate weapons, entering restricted areas, or remaining too close to suspicious guards can expose 47’s identity.
Targets can be eliminated with firearms, fiber wire, poison, sniper rifles, explosives, or mission-specific opportunities. Players can incapacitate people without killing them, hide bodies, collect weapons, and choose different routes through many locations. Performance is graded after each assignment, and earning high ratings can unlock additional weapons that become available for later missions.
