Inside the Backrooms is a cooperative horror game where players explore several levels inspired by the Backrooms mythos. Fluorescent offices, parking areas, pools, tunnels, and other liminal spaces are connected through puzzles, keys, and dangerous entity encounters.
The game is designed around teamwork because different players can search separate areas, carry useful items, and communicate clues. However, splitting up also increases the risk of being isolated when a hostile creature appears.
How the Gameplay Works
Players search rooms, collect key items, solve codes and environmental puzzles, manage inventory, and use equipment needed for specific tasks. Entities have different behaviors, so learning whether to hide, run, remain quiet, or use a particular countermeasure becomes important.
Progression moves from one Backrooms level to another after the group completes the required objectives.
