Journey to the West is a roguelike deck-building RPG inspired by the famous Chinese novel and its legendary characters. Players lead a hero and a party through a journey filled with mythical enemies, unusual encounters, relics, companions, and branching events.
Multiple playable heroes provide distinct card pools and mechanics, while a large number of recruitable characters makes party composition an important part of creating a successful run.
How the Gameplay Works
Battles use turn-based card combat where players spend available resources to attack, defend, apply effects, and activate character abilities. New cards, relics, consumables, and companions are obtained while moving through branching routes.
Runs can develop very differently depending on the hero, recruited allies, deck choices, and events encountered. Repeated play reveals additional combinations and story outcomes while encouraging players to experiment with new party and card synergies.
