Last Train Home is a real-time strategy and survival-management game inspired by the journey of the Czechoslovak Legion after World War I. Players command soldiers traveling across Russia aboard an armored train while trying to reach safety during the Russian Civil War.
The game combines tactical battles with train management, injuries, morale, supplies, weather, and difficult choices. Soldiers are persistent characters who can be wounded or lost.
How the Gameplay Works
Players deploy squads in real-time missions, use cover, flank enemies, and capture objectives. Between missions, they assign soldiers to train cars, manage food and fuel, treat injuries, and upgrade the train.
Long-term success requires preserving experienced troops while keeping the train moving. Cold weather and supply shortages can be as dangerous as combat, giving the campaign a strong survival layer alongside tactical warfare.
